Ayebro.co.nz: Thanks for taking time to answer some questions. Lets get started; Give New Zealand listeners an idea of what your music represents?
Trooth: My music represents my expression. It’s how I deal with shit. I express how I feel on a track. Be it emotionally driven or just spitting lyrical fire. It depends on how I’m feeling at the time. I just spit my truth.
Ayebro.co.nz: Where are you based? Whats the hip hop scene like there?
Trooth: I am based in Perth, Western Australia. The Hip Hop scene in Perth is quite large. There is a lot of talent in Perth.
Ayebro.co.nz: How long have you been making music?
Trooth: I’ve been writing poetry since I was 13yrs old, and began freestyling when I was 15yrs old but I began to take music seriously in 2003 after meeting Trumpnotics, a LA based Producer.
Ayebro.co.nz: Where do you get inspiration from for your music?
Trooth: My inspiration mainly comes from the need to express. To get shit out of my system. A lot of it comes from my life or the life of others. I try to rap about what I’ve gone through or seen someone else going through. Sometimes it’s just about being creative with words, coming up with dope lines. It really depends on how I feel on the day and what beat I’m spitting to. In terms of rappers, 2pac, Eminem, Talib Kweli, Kanye West are some of the rappers I draw inspiration from. I’m also inspired by such people as Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, Mother Teresa and Ghandi.
Ayebro.co.nz: What do you know about the NZ Hip Hop scene?
Trooth: I know it’s huge out in New Zealand. I love some of the stuff coming out from NZ. I’m a fan of Scribe and the Deceptikonz as well as Savage. I See David Dallas is doing his thing out in New York as well.
Ayebro.co.nz: Are you looking at making a name for yourself in NZ?
Trooth: Yeah I would love to come out to NZ and kick it with sum hip hop heads and get down in a cypher, for sure!
Ayebro.co.nz: Have you worked with a NZ artist before/if not do you want to?
Trooth: I havn’t worked with a NZ artist as yet, but I’m always down to work with new people.
Ayebro.co.nz: What releases have you got out at the moment, and what have you got coming soon?
Trooth: I have released 2 mixtapes, “Gettin U Junkdafied” and “United We Stand.” Also an earlier release, “Too High the EP.” I’m about to release my first album,”Reborn.” With production from Loftee Beats and Mat Rafle.
