By the time you’ve reached your mid 20’s if you haven’t experienced a relationship like that discussed in Venus & Mars by Jane Deezy and Sabre, it would be a shame. It’s the kind that if you’re with someone, you feel you’ve done something wrong by talking to this Venus or Mars, and if you’re single, you know you’re about to get in trouble.
As Deezy says, “I wrote this joint because I think it’s cool to indulge in that fascination, to be distracted for a moment in time. To not violate any boundaries and to not have to front like you really will keep in touch.”
Deezy explains, “When a man and woman, that were once strangers, find themselves spending more and more time together and become increasingly fascinated with one another. It’s only a matter of time before someone begins to wonder what things would be like if they were more than friends.”
The two emcees take the jazzy-hip hop style beat produced by Freddie Joachim and bare an inner monologue everyone feels but few speak about; it’s even more captivating to have the male and female presence on track, considering the topic.
Jane says, post release, “I really like the track, I’m pleased that other people like it too. It was a solid piece of work, Sabre getting on it was a real pleasure for me, he took it to another level.”
Since releasing Venus & Mars, Deezy has reached her 100 download limit on Soundcloud but it can be played here:
The single was also rated #1 on the Ayebro/3News Top 5 for May 28 2012.
